The following positions are currently being offered:

 

  1. Systems Manager

We invite applications for the position of Systems Manager, based in our Canberra office. You will manage OH&S, QA and Environmental management systems, including preparation of project plan, monitoring, reporting and auditing and a broad range of site support activities.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Quality assurance
    • Assist project engineers with Project Plans preparation:  Quality, Safety and environmental plans
    • Quality assurance system support; End of project QA reports, collation and completion of records & systems: ITP’s, Construction history, Work-as-executed drawings, asset registers, non-conformances; systems auditing.

  1. OH&S
    • Work method Statements – site and work activity risk assessments; prepare SWMS’s, distribute, monitor site adherence
    • Site visits / inspections – support senior site managers with OH&S management; monitor site safety generally
    • Site tool box meetings: attend, observe, support site staff
    • Systems administration: records management; incidents investigation and reporting; stakeholders reporting; maintain staff CV’s, qualifications & work experience records; apply statistical techniques to data and review company performance and trends.
    • Staff support:  training; re-habilitation & return to work liaison; site inductions.
    • Subcontractor systems and records reviews
    • Systems compliance:  monitoring of compliance with OH&S regulations; maintain an awareness and currency of Australian Standards, OH&S Codes, Workcover bulletins and local requirements, industry developments
    • Systems auditing:  carry out internal system audits; arrange and facilitate external audits.
    • Stores & equipment: purchasing, stock control, site distribution
  1. General tasks
    • Management support across a wide range of corporate activities
    • Projects support with sourcing of equipment and materials, deliveries and logistics, communications, social activities

  1. Civil Apprenticeship

Huon has an ongoing program of apprenticeship training and we currently have 1 apprenticeship position available. This is a tremendous opportunity for someone interested in persuing a career in the civil construction industry. The qualification you will work towards is a Certificate III in Civil Construction in eaither of the two streams, Road Construction or Plant Operations. The succesful applicant will be nearing completion of Year 12 and preferably with some school based training in an associated field. Mature applicants will also be considered. Above Award pay and conditions are available to the right person with the possibility of a long term career on completion.
